How do i know when my machine needs a service ? The whole machine will start to run slow and sound a little sloppy.
Is there anything i can do to keep my mechanism in good condition ? Yes ..A slot machine must be played for at least half an hour a week ..These machines when built where built to run 24/7 lack of use is by far the biggest cause of problems.
.What is the best one arm bandit to buy ? No comment . Learn what you can about the machines you like and then make your choice .
6. Why have some one arm bandits got jackpots and others have not ..Answer to follow.
.Can the payout percentage be altered on a one arm bandit ? No .. Payout percentage is set when machine was built. BUT if you really wanted the payout percentage altered it can be done but best left to a pro .
.. I have a Jubille Riviera and after i have pulled the handle it slings back to its rest position with a bang ..Any ideas ? Yes the pump has failed ( cylinder like object on right hand side of machine the works like a piston ) or the air bleed screw is missing. ( small screw at top and to the front of piston ).
.. What is the weight of a one arm bandit ? Average weight is 50 kilo .

..Like modern electric machines is the payout fixed ie does the machine know when its time to pay out .? NO NO NO... I have now been asked this question several times...a one arm bandit is totally random in operation.

.. I have been playing my mills for six month and never win the jackpot do you have any idea of the odds of hitting this so hard to win jackpot ? No problem at all the odds are 8000 to 1 20 symbols per reel and there is three reels therefor 20x20x20 = 8000 or to be exact 7999 - 1
..George , I would like to fit lights to my Jennings Governor ..is there an easy way round this or do i have to start buying transformers and bulbs / fittings ect ? 19..Clock mechanism keeps jamming even when disconnected.?Is the clock gears got oil on them or grease ? Grease ! Right most probable cause is because some one has greased it rather than used oil ..This is a common mistake..... Grease is great for a slot machine but not on the clock mech .....Why ? ... Well any dirt at all will stick to the grease therefor will turn grease into a sand paper type substance which will eventually wear the cogs and cause the clock to start slipping.....My answer to this is against my own advice....This is the only time i ever use WD40 it will clean off the old grease if used frequently and clock will run a lot smoother....once you see no more sign of grease left on clock mech use a three in one oil or better still sewing machine oil ...So to answer your question i think you have some grit in the gears but this is one of those questions the can have a lot of answers. Let me know how you get on,George
.. No question here Just a little advice that i have forgot to put on how to maintain your slot. Coins is the food of slot machines ..Put in a bad coin and you may spend a long time trying to find it again or dislodging it from the mech of the machine therefor if you come across a bent coin throw it away or if its a modern coin spend it ;=) If you are using old shillings , sixpences . pennys etc on an old machine it is well worth the bother to clean all coins ...This can take for ever but it will save you time in the long run . I mean dont forget that you can spend 100s of pounds or thousands for that matter and not give a second thought of the coins your putting in it .
..I have found a very annoying squeak when i pull the handle of my machine ..Its driving me mad ! ..It is still there after i have removed the main mech... i know it has to do with the handle and i have already greased the bottom of handle where it goes into the shell of machine...sugestions ? LoL ...the famous Mouse syndrome .Ok there is a main spring that brings the arm back to rest...grease both ends of spring where they connect ..If the squeak is still there lightly grease the full spring when its under tension...Problem Solved ! Ps..I bet it is an aristocrat ?
..Geo is there any way of emptying the coin tube with out taking tube off ? Sure is.... Insert a coin as usual ,pull handle and as soon as reels start to spin stop the clock mech by stopping the fan on the top of it ...line up jackpot win on window .Leave go of fan and BINGO ..Repeat process until empty ...If you dont know what im talking about leave it and do it the way you have been by removing tube... i will take no blame for mistakes so make sure you know what your doing before attempting any repair on machine . OR get the mech to me .
..Is there such a thing as a chrome repair kit ? Not one that i know of that repairs slot machines.

..How can i tell if my jennings back door is original ? This has been asked more than once now so i suppose an answer is needed....Jennings used the letter J on there back door they also have two bits of metal welded on the door that stops the top bonnet stays from sliding open ...Other than this i would check the weight of your back door or use a magnet and make sure it aint alloy .... if any one can give me an update on this ? i would be gratefull. One more thing as far as i am aware the doors where not stamped with #s or any other markings ... Again if any one knows better let me know , George

What i use to see true condition of the paint work is car T CUT available in any car shop @ about £7 a bottle..money well spent as it can also be used sparingly to clean your chrome or ally castings.
..George why does lemons never show up on an award card ? Ah good question ....Right the lemons will never become a win line because one of the reel strips wont have any lemons on it at all..... Think of it like a roulette wheel ....its got a green 0 This is the houses way of robbing you. Some machines do use lemons as a payout like early Mills or segas.Just use the green 0 on the roulette wheel as an example as most machines will have some symbol that wont appear on all three reels .
..Why is a one arm bandit called a one arm bandit ? Right i had to post this question as i thought it was funny and i dont know the real answer ..lol Right here goes , Old cowboy films, a lot of the bandits had one arm :=) Or because the machine has got one arm to pull and it also robs you of your cash ..thus the name one armed bandit .
